I and the team at AppleSearch wish you a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
In 2013 we were steadily busy, recruiting lawyers for leading international law firms on the Romanian market and finance directors for international firms in Romania and Serbia, as well as assignments in various sectors. We worked on a number of sales positions and worked for three investment funds. Our impression is that things are picking up slowly in Romania. We do not expect a dramatic change next year but our clients are cautiously optimistic that things will continue to improve slowly and so are we.
This beautiful Transylvanian scene caught our eye and we had to share it. It reminded us of the following story. We hope you don’t know it but, in the words Groucho Marx, don’t stop me if you’ve heard this before. I want to hear it again.
A foreigner was driving through the Romanian countryside when he came across a herd of sheep blocking the road and while he waited for the herd slowly to pass he asked the farmer.
If I tell you how many sheep you have, would you give me one?
The farmer says he would.
137.
The foreigner had counted right and the astonished farmer gave him a sheep. The foreigner is stuffing the sheep in his car when the farmer knocks on his window.
"I've got a proposal for you. If I can guess what you do for a living, will you let me have my sheep back? If I’m wrong, you can have another sheep.”
The foreigner agrees.
"You're a consultant",
"Good lord, how did you know?
"Easy. You tell me something I already know, it was of no conceivable importance and then you charged me for it. Now give me back my dog.’
